21 April -21 May
The second sign of the Zodiac is Taurus- Taurus the Bull.
And whereas those born under Aries rush in angels fear to tread, Taurus meander.
Taurus begins on or about 21 April and ends on approximately 21 of May. A time of April showers and May blossoms. The woods still abound with wild violets and wood anemones and in many garden we find forget-me-nots and tulips. The purple-clad iris vies with the ruddy gold of the wallflowers. The swallows have returned and far above the lapwing fans the air. Spring is complete and the promise of summer comes suddenly. So is it any wonder that Taurus is described as an Earth sign- the others being
Virgo and Capricorn- and is ruled by Venus or Aphrodite.
The Taurean temperament is touched by the warm sensuality of the Goddess of Love: Affectionate, caring and capable of making many sacrifices. A perfect example is Tosca. The Taurean character is committed, determined and persevering, but also capricious.
Sadly however, it must be pointed out that there is a stubborn streak and a tendency to over-indulge in what is termed the good things of life.
The festival of spring in temperate climates of the northern hemisphere was celebrated 1 May - May Day. A time of maypoles, merry making and the crowning of the May Queen.
Is it just a coincidence that the creator of Peter Pan was born at a time of the year when fairies were abroad at night? The worshippers of May Goddess frequently wore green, the fairy color, to encourage the earth to ripen and flower, and green has always one of Taurus’s colours./more next week
