Kalibo Host to Philippine Medical Association

Kalibo Aklan - The Aklan Medical Society was the host of the Annual Philippine Medical Associations Regional Assembly this year. Headed by the current President of AMS, Dr. Oscar Hilario, and with the staunch support of Dr. Cynthia de la Cruz, the reigning PMA Governor for Western Visayas, together with over one hundred doctors in Aklan, welcomed their guests from various areas of the region: fifteen representatives from Capiz Medical Society; seven from Canlaon Medical Society; five from Iloilo Medical Society; six from Antique Medical Society; six from Negros Occidental MedicalSociety; and four from Guimaras Medical Society.

The theme these physicians adopted in their event was ‘Manggagamot Kaagapay ng Sambayanan Tungo sa Tunay na Pagbabago’.

Upon arrival in Kalibo, the President of the Philippine Medical Association, Dr. Oscar Tinio and his entourage were straight away taken to the local media’s weekly kapihan in Smoke Haus where he was asked by one journalist to give his opinion on the current global situation. As time was short, the group did not stay long before they were billeted to the Marzon Hotel.

On Sunday their conference was held in the Aklan State University where the topics they discuss began with a Patients & Drugs Safety Profile; Finasteride: Still the Standard in BPH Management; Conquering Fever Phobia, and Taxation on Physicians. It was a hectic day for the participants at this conference, but some are gluttons for punishment. They said that they will come back again next time, or maybe they are just people who are really true to the vows that they have taken.
