Illegal Traders Targeted

In order to make the people of Kalibo realize that he is serious about the business of making Kalibo a cleaner, greener, and a more pleasant place to live, Mayor William Lachica is constantly going around to see if residents and business men (both large or small establishments) are supporting the Municipal ordinance 2009-004.

On March 28, 2011 at 10:30 in the morning, the Kalibo Auxilliary Police headed by KAP Coordinator Arturo Talatala, conducted a clearing operation targeted at illegal vendors selling goods and fruits along Toting Reyes, Dr. Gonzales and Oyo Torong Street. This action resulted in the confiscation of assorted goods such as star apples, mangoes, bananas, boiled corn, and twelve rolling carts selling fried chicken. These items were confiscated for operating without licences or business permits, and for creating an obstruction to the passage of pedestrians and motorists. The confiscated items were placed and impounded at the Kalibo Police Station for proper disposition.

On March 30, 2011, the Municipal Ordinance Officers, Police Officers III, Julius Tubang Barrientos and Ronald Malacas Macario, turned over the confiscated fruits and goods to the Aklan Rehabilitation Center. The twelve rolling carts were returned to their respective owners and operators upon paying fines for the violations to the Kalibo Municipal Treasurer’s Office, and after securing business permits for those who were caught without as mayor’s permit./TE
