Banga, Aklan – A school based 4-H Club was organized last March 22, 2011 at an Agricultural Training Center, training hall of the Aklan State University Compound. The organizational meeting was attended by the students of ASU Laboratory High School upon the approval of the request made by Mel Daniel Ericson B. Rebuelta, a senior student of the said university to Dr. Benny A. Palma, OIC President of the University.
Mr. Frances A. Arnaiz, the Provincial RBO Coordinator briefed the students about the 4 –H Club. He was assisted by Mrs. Estelita Rasco and Mr. Wilner Rentino of Agricultural Training Institute, Ms. Lyn Bantigue, Municipal RBO Coordinator of Banga and Ms. Alice B. Rebuelta, Municipal RBO Coordinator of Kalibo.
Mr. Arnaiz discussed the components of the Youth Development Program, the meaning, the objectives and the existing 4 - H Club projects. Election of the new set of officers followed. A junior high school student, Angelica Lachica was voted President of the club.
“I am very happy that my classmates would also experience the wonderful moments I have had with my club”, says Mel Rebuelta. Mel was the provincial winner (1st place) in poster making during the provincial 4-H Congress last January 29, 2011. He represented the province of Aklan at the Regional Achievement Day and Congress, held at Punta Villa, Iloilo on January 25 to 27 2011, where he ranked 2nd place. Mel is the current president of Palayamanan 4-H Club at Kinalangay Nuevo, Malinao Aklan and the Editor-in-Chief of the Aklan State University- LHS publication, ‘The Grains’./TE
