It has been almost six months since The Explorer came under new ownership, and in the weeks and months that followed the newspaper has gone from strength to strength. Circulation has increased, and new subscribers are signing up on a regular weekly basis.
Those familiar with the history of The Explorer will not fail to appreciate how the paper has evolved, with its extensive coverage of newsworthy events both here and abroad, together with thought provoking articles and editorials.
Page seven has proved popular not only due to its often humorous and light hearted content, but also for the articles about health improvement. More recently we have taken to featuring a column entitled ‘Classic Albums’ in a bid to encourage our younger readers, and to enhance the ‘cosmopolitan’ ethos of the paper.
The Explorer has proved especially popular with balikbayans, a number of whom have become regular subscribers, with increasing numbers recommending the newspaper to their friends.
We are eager for the paper to reflect the public view and to further involve our readers by encouraging them to submit their own stories,together with their comments and opinions. In this respect we feel that balikbayans have an important role to play, for they have experienced living in other countries and as such they have a unique perspective and are able to compare and contrast our own culture with that of their host nation.
Most of us are eager to help our country flourish and to improve both our society and our economy in whatever way we can, and such as we would welcome accounts of those who have spent time abroad.

Did you return for economic reasons, to be reunited with the family and friends, or did you come here to retire? Are you currently engaged in some project that might interest our readers?
If you have a story to tell or something to say then we would love to hear from you, and this goes for all our readers. Maybe you have a photograph of some unusual location or event that you would like to submit. If we feel that it will be of interest to our readers then we will do our best to print it.
Our ultimate aim is to make The Explorer a newspaper both for the people and of the people and you the reader have a crucial part to play. It maybe that you have a hidden talent as yet undiscovered and are a budding journalist yourself!
