The nine deputized Solid Waste Management Services Enforcers of Mayor Lachica started on Monday to keep up with their dissemination of information for the enforcement of Municipal Office Ordinance 2009-004. They carried their portable public address system to announce the implementation program of the municipal office to reinforce anti littering and anti-illegal dumping.
According to Ms. Adorada Reynaldo, the launching of the Green Walk on March 17, 2011 was the beginning of their serious Information Education Communication Advocacy which will terminate in June. Ms. Reynaldo said that her office intends to visit every Barangay and business establishment in order to make sure that this information and education regarding the ordinance is fully understood.
When schools open her office will do a school hop to disseminate the correct way to dispose of waste. By June this ordinance will be in full implementation and violators will be penalized. The environmental tickets citation will be issued to every violator.
The office of Ms. Reynaldo is partnered with DILG with their ‘Peace Keeping Action Team Training’ for the barangay police so that they too can be educated and enabled to help in implementing the law. She added that by June, no violators will be excused for not knowing about the ordinance. She also sends her apologies to all concerned due to the shortcomings of her office owing to the breakdown of the garbage trucks. The Ecological Solid Waste management only have four garbage trucks in service and much of the time these trucks break down simultaneously, hence the delay of garbage collections.
Thanks is due for the suggestion of the Honorable Ananias Solina, President of the Liga Ng Mga Barangay, to purchase additional garbage trucks to help the Municipal’s needs.
