Irene Franco Daguno

It is very rare to find a young person who is so clever, so full of enthusiasm and so methodical in her ways in this time and age. The resource speaker of the three day event on GAD held on the third floor of the Emeliano Acevedo Hall in Kalibo on May 10 to 12 showed us what young people of today can do.

Irene Franco Daguno is a native of Balete, Aklan. At a very early age, she demonstrated all the achievements she had garnered, just by being patient, methodical in her ways and of course by having a good brain.

She started her working life as a part time researcher with Women’s Action in media in Quezon City by collecting and analyzing secondary data used in producing eight advocacy videos on selective women’s issues.

In 1999-May 2006 she worked as Planning Officer II –Program Development Division, Philippine Commission on Women (formerly the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (Laurel St. San Miguel, Manila), where she coordinated with local partners the implementation of three projects on gender institutionalization in regional project monitoring and evaluation system (region 13), the final output of which was endorsed at the national level for adoption by other regional offices, establishing a provincial women’s center (Aklan).

On June 2006 to June 2008 she became a Gender Advisor for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Sungi Development Foundation in Islamabad, Pakistan.

She studied BA in Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts in Adamson University in Manila; Bachelor of Laws in San Beda College of Law, in Manila; MA in Philippine Studies at the Asian Center, UP in Diliman; MA in Gender and International Development, Department of Sociology, University of Warwick in UK.

Her work experiences vary from Volunteer/ Free lance Consultant with Women’s Education, Development, Productivity and Research Organization. She served as a resource person on gender and rights for the Red AVP project.

A gender advisor for National Area-Based Development Programme Phase 2 (NABDP); Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) at NeelaBagh St. Darulaman, Kabul, Afghanistan.

If you want to know more about this 37 year old, single and available young lady (I am assuming she is available) you will have to find the way to get hold of her.

Personally I am intrigued and impressed by all the achievements on her list though I have not included them all on this page. Irene, you are such an inspiration to both young and old. For all the things you have done and still to do, good luck!I hope our path will cross again./TE
