Be a wealth creator

“We can’t be right with God until we are right with others. In spite of our hi-tech world and efficient procedures, PEOPLE remain the essential ingredient of life.”

Cong. Teodorico “Nonong” Haresco, Jr. has this objective in making sure that his constituents in the province and around its neighboring provinces will live a comfortable life. Unknowingly, this good congressman has been doing his duty as good Christian. Most of his scholars in school, colleges and even the seminary are now enjoying the fruit of his labor by sending them to school. He is advocating social entrepreneurship to benefit our impoverished brothers and sisters in the community.

Just recently, his party list - The Kassanga, had a MOA signing and ceremonial turn-over of Solar and Battery Operated Electric Tricycles to the Provincial Government of Aklan and the Municipal Government of Malay. His idea to make our poor people generate work and become wealth creators, so to contribute to make their lives better especially for their children, in turn help make our economy stronger. The invention of Technostrat Corporation, called E-Trike, is a welcomed opportunity for all of us, and that makes us also one proud Filipino.

Likewise, there is another good gentleman, an advocate of the environment, pro-poor and many more – Mr. Tony Meloto of Gawad Kalinga (GK) in Manila, is a visionary man. He is empowering young people to welcome new change, to be open-minded to social change, social innovation and social enterprise. He initiated many houses through Gawad Kalinga, of which most American and European students and young professional volunteers have been inspiring our Filipino youths around the country. His idea to serve the poor through community based support entrepreneurship projects and events with the Phil. Center for Social Progress has encouraged thousands of young people to be socially responsible by partaking with his vision to become young business men and women.

In a bureaucratic style of government everywhere in the Philippines, we need people like Cong. Haresco and Mr. Tony Meloto. I am one of their admirers in making a difference in the life of others. They love their country and are willing to sacrifice to live less for self, more for others, enough for all.

This affirmed that PEOPLE are important as the essential factor, as work generator, and as wealth creator. If only they are well looked after by the government leaders in making sure that the tax money will surely and properly channeled. On the other hand, we don’t have the right to complain to the government unless you are doing your share as good citizens of this country. /TE
