ILOILO CITY - The opening of classes in the province of Aklan is peaceful with the maximum deployment of uniform PNP personnel and the full support of all concerned agencies.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd), Local Government Units (LGUs), Department of Health (DoH) and other concerned agencies have provided maximum security coverage and other public safety services province-wide.
APPO acting police director S/Supt. Cornelio T Defensor ordered his personnel to make themselves visible at the different schools, bus terminals, seaports, airports, malls, business centers and other areas of convergence for the expected heavy influx of students from their respective hometowns and ensure that there is enough security measures laid out for the purpose.”
Defensor also directed the chiefs of police throughout the province to personally supervise the deployment of police security and traffic personnel at the different colleges, campuses and school peripheries to prevent students from being victimized by criminal elements and other unscrupulous individuals who might take advantage of the situation.
Apart from DepEd’s “Action Center Balik Eskwela,” Police Assistance Desks were also established in major school campuses and clustered schools province-wide in coordination with the concerned school authorities with the support of school security personnel and BPATs.
Likewise, continuous anti-criminality operations in crime prone areas before, during and after the opening of classes are being conducted as well as non-stop anti-smoking campaign is strictly observed in all public and private places.
Monday’s opening of classes in other cities and provinces of Panay and Bacolod City across Negros Island was similarly peaceful with the collaborative efforts of the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and concerned line government agencies spearheaded by the DepEd.
Generally fair weather also greeted the start of classes despite the prevailing overcast cloudy skies in some areas throughout Western Visayas region. (PNA)/TE
