Iloilo City – A number of city employees will be trained to read electric meters and eventually will be assigned to accompany meter readers of the Panay Electric Company (PECO). This was announced by city Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog after noting that electric power consumption of the city government continues to rise every month.
Mabilog said the city government owes PECO more than P7.3 million in two months of electric consumption. This covers consumption of city schools and the local school board of more than P4 million and other city buildings, street lights and plazas of more than P3 million.
Mabilog admitted that some city employees can be dispersed with in order to go with PECO electric meter readers as an innovative way to see the actual reading of power consumption of the city government. (PNA)/TE
