AMS Inducted New Set of Officers

Founded in 1957, Aklan Medical Society is on its 53rd year of providing healthcare and service to the Aklanon people. As years go by this society grew bigger and is now an award winning organization.

Aklan Medical Society has grown in numbers and is still growing. Today they have 279 registered members, with 24 new members for induction. As of today, the Aklan Medical Society has 168 active members that are dutifully serving the people of Aklan.

Last September 3, 2010 at the Governor C.L. Cabagnot Training and Tourism Center in Buswang Old, Kalibo, Aklan, the 30th youngest president—Dr. Oscar Hilario, was appointed to office. With him were the following officers:

Their Speaker and Inducting Officer was the President of the Philippine Medical Association, Dr. Oscar D. Tinio, currently the Hospital Director of St. Dominic Medical Center and Director for Medical Affairs of the St. Dominic College of Asia in Bacoor, Cavite.

Currently, the Aklan Medical Society had 29 Past Presidents and 3 PMA Governors for Western Visayas. The 1st doctor to serve as President of Aklan Medical Society was Dr. Guillermo Tuazon. The longest serving president was Dr. Anselmo B. Legaspi who served for two (2) terms for a total of ten (10) years.

The present PMA Governor for Western Visayas is Dr. Cynthia C. Dela Cruz, a pediatrician who served as President of the Aklan Medical Society for two consecutive terms (2006-2008)./WVE
