KALIBO, Aklan, Medical doctors in the western part of the province have led their constituents in a walk for health in order to promote the delivery of health services.
The walk for health (Lakad Kalusugan) was led by the Southwestern Aklan Inter-Local Health Zone 1-B (SWA-ILHZ-1B), and supported by the Department of Health, Philippine Army, Gerry Roxas Foundation, Philippine Red Cross, Barangtay Kagawad, Barangay Nutrition Council and the municipal governments of Lezo, Malinao, Numancia, Makato and Madalag.

Makato Mayor Ramon Legazpi, SWA-ILHZ-1B chair said that the activity held in Numancia Covered Court is a health package for their respective constituents. The first is the bloodletting drive for dengue patients, followed by the ceremonial turnover of microscope to the five towns, mass vaccination of A(H1N1) and Garantisadong Pambata program among others.

“The event showcased our delivery of basic health services among our constituents in the five towns in the western part of Aklan,” said Legazpi.

According to the Department of Health, the anti-dengue campaign should be taken seriously in the province. Report said at least 950 dengue cases were already registered in the province of Aklan.

The doctors were also supposedly to hold cataract screening for the Aklan Vision 2020 campaign but were cancelled due to technicalities.
