DIBI Kalibo is the first private school in Kalibo to respond to DepEd’s order No. 52, s.2011, entitled ‘Strengthening Environmental Education in Public and Private Schools.’
The order was sent out on 5th July 2011 “in view of the pressing global concerns and issues on the environment.
DepEd urges all the public and private schools to lead the role on the environmental awareness by enhancing environmental education and by pursuing effective school based activities that seek to preserve and protect the environment.
This is in pursuant to Republic Act (R.A.) No.9512, entitled ‘An Act to Promote Environmental Education and for other purposes.’
As DIBI received the request from the DepED, students and teachers, together with the headmistress of DIBI, the Hon. Celia Carpio de la Cruz, a group was organized. On August 10, 2011, Kool Earth, Inc. the Environmental Arm of Aklan was invited to induct the newly form YES-O as junior members of Kool Earth./TE
