BSP conducts bank notes Campaign

KALIBO, Aklan — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) here recently donated toys, books, teaching school supplies to kindergarten pupils and teachers of Malinao Elementary School in Malinao, Aklan.

The donation, according to Leonora S. Templonuevo, Deputy Director of BSP-Kalibo was conducted under the bank’s project “My Laruan for the Little Ones,” in support of the government’s Enhanced K to 12 Program of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Templonuevo said the donation, contained in plastic envelopes, benefited 69 Kindergarten pupils and two teachers.

Besides going to Malinao to deliver the donation, the BSP also conducted a briefing on Clean Note Policy, Tulong Barya Para Sa Eskwela or TBPSE and Coin Recirculation Campaign and Security Features and Design of New Generation Currency (NGC) to pupils and teachers there.

The same activity was also conducted by the BSP to pupils and t
eachers of Kalibo Pilot Elementary School (KPES) and Aklan Bankers Association on separate dates.

After each briefing, participants were invited by the BSP to have their New Design Series (NDS) bills exchanged for New Generation Currency (NGC) Notes at Exchange Counters set up by the bank.

Templonuevo said the BSP targets to sustain its public information activities in schools and offices throughout the province to instill among Aklanons the value of coins and the benefits of using them, keeping money free from dirt and distinguishing fake bills from genuine ones. ( PIA)/TE
