Special Feature:

Dr. Elepoldo Magpusao

Zest for Life

Life is not just for waking up early every morning to have breakfast and go to work so we can support our families. Life is for waking up every morning yearning for a new adventure that the day will bring. Life is beautiful and therefore it needs to be enjoyed and appreciated. Life enjoyment’s is not only for one’s self but for others too.

This is the advocacy of our Man of the Week. Dr. Elepoldo Magpusao is the Provincial Medical Officer of Aklan. He was also an SB member of Numancia from 2001- 2003. He had been working as volunteer physician since 1996. He was employed by the Red Cross for ten years and is the first Aklanon to be awarded a silver medal for giving part of his life to others through voluntary blood donation.

He has donated blood forty four times which is equivalent to 19,800 cc of blood. The award was bestowed to him by Senator Richard Gordon, the Chairman and CEO of the Philippine National Red Cross, on August 27, 2010.

When asked what is his innermost wish in this life, he replied without hesitation “ to live longer so as to be able to continue helping others, especially Aklanons. We have to set an example. Helping people is not only through giving material assistance. Listening to the need of others and being able to deliver it is such a good feeling that at the end of the day you can lean back in your rocking chair and say to yourself, “thank you Lord for giving me this opportunity to give back something of yours to my brothers and sisters.”

As I left the Red Cross Building brave, caring, and generous donors continued to arrive. Like Dr. Magpusao, they too want to share part of their beautiful existence with others. So people of Aklan, let us enjoy life, as it is the most precious gift that we have./TE
