KALIBO - The dynamic and energetic officers and members of the Aklan Blood Coordinating Council (ABCC) headed by Dr. Cynthia de la Cruz, together with the Red Cross staff and other volunteers continued their appeal to the public to donate blood to help others who are in need.
Their second initiative voluntary blood donation
program started on may 25th in Lezo where fifty five donors turned up. Out of these fifty five forty two were accepted, three were turned away as two of them were diabetic whilst the other one developed a blood clot during the procedure and ten had low hemoglobin. On May 28, I arrived in the Red Cross Building at 8:00 a.m as donors strated arriving. The publisher of the Explorer, Michael de la Cruz, was the first one to arrive and donate. He was followed by employees of Bread and Butter. Police officers from various towns and stations turned up but were turned away for reasons that some of them have not slept as they had been on duty the previous night,whilst others were on medication.
This noble mission will continue so long as there are people who care about others and are willing to volunteer their spare time to help ABCC.
Who was it who said that “you only need a soul generated with love, a heart full of passion and grace to be of service to others.”
The days of volunteerism are not yet gone, so the heroes and heroines continue to come forward to offer their sincere support./TE
