The attendance of the seven day seminars was very impressive. On the first two days ,November 17 and 18 ESWM issue was discussed . The waste Management situation and plans for the improvement of this service was outlined by the Public Service Officer II, Head of Solid Waste Management Services, Ms. Adorada Reynaldo, whilst Dr. Emmett Custodio, Medical Specialist and member of the local board talked about the impacts of improper solid waste management to health.
The fundamentals of Ecological Solid Waste Management and its legal framework was tackled by Mr. Heherson R. Alvarez, Ecosystem Management Coordinator. Then the afternoon session was taken over by the resource speaker, Ms. Maricel M. Bechayda, MLGOO, DILG-LGU of Kalibo. There were fifty two attendees from different sector including some newly elected and re- elected barangay officials.
Then on November 22 to 24, a three day seminar and workshop on Orientation and strengthening of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council was attended by more or less two hundred fifty people. Again our resource speaker held the attention of the audience for many hours .She was relieved only by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Mr. Edgardo M. Gerardo for a respite. Again the bantering in this session was very rewarding as more and more people started participating as the hours flew by.
Then the third seminar was on Comprehensive Development Plan. At this point most of the participants started flagging but the two days went by unnoticed as Ms. Bechayda made the participants use their brains. Hopefully all these information that was imparted to all the attendees will not go to waste as we need all the support of our people to deliver our vision.
